Massing and Orientation: Wind Frequency and Sun Path

These diagrams and info are based on the ones found in the book titled Vatnsmyri: 102 Reykjavik, created by the planning and building department of Rekjavik.

Wind varies, with average speeds of 6m/s (13.5 mph) in the winter and 4m/s (9mph) in the summer. The most common direction is from ENE and SSE.  These diagrams show the frequency of the wind direction, not it’s strength.  It can be seen that winter winds are more predominantly from the east, while spring and summer winds also show northerly winds.
